The famous "Montmartre"
July 21, 2017
Montmartre is an area with authentic charm, famous for the Sacré-Coeur basilica and its magnificent view over Paris. The top of the hill is easily reached by taking the funicular, at the price of a ticket of subway. The more athletic ones climb 222 steps through the Louise Michel square. After a visit to the Basilica, visitors can take a stroll along the Butte Montmartre: the Place du Tertre and its famous caricaturists, the Dalí area, the Montmartre vineyards, the Lapin Agile cabaret, the Montmartre museum ...
The walk continues down to the Moulin Rouge, a historic cabaret with lively and world-famous evenings. On their way, visitors enjoy the creative and trendy showcases of the streets of Abbesses and Tardieu, the shops on Rue Lepic, the cosmopolitan streets of Steinkerque, the famous neighborhood of Pigalle and Montmartre cemetery. A few minutes' walk from the Moulin Rouge, in SoPi (South Pigalle), the tea room of the garden of the Museum of Romantic Life is ideal for a gourmet break.
"La Basilique du Sacré- Coeur de Montmartre"
At the top of this famous hill, you will see the famous Basilica of Montmartre with it's amazing view on the city of Paris.
The Basilica of the Sacré-Coeur of Montmartre, known as the National Vow, located at the top of the Butte Montmartre, in the district of Clignancourt of the 18th arrondissement of Paris, is a major Parisian religious building, "the sanctuary of the Eucharistic Adoration and the Mercy of God". The construction of this church, a monument both political and cultural, follows the postwar period of 1870. It's a church with a very rich history.
Le mur des je t'aime
Montmartre "hides" a lot of beautiful secret places like "Le Mur des je t'aime" where a wall displays the famous "I love you" in 250 languages. The wall is imagined by Frédéric Baron and Claire Kito, a must-see for lovers all over the world, meeting in Paris, the capital of romanticism. The fragments of red color on the fresco are the pieces of a broken heart, symbol of a humanity that is torn and that the wall tends to gather. This monument unusual and dedicated to love is erected in a square of the Place des Abbesses, on the butte Montmartre.
The Artists of Montmartre
On the top of the hill, you can meet artists who are painting portraits and Parisian landscapes. By visiting this famous district, you can even have your own caricature drawn which could be a good souvenir.
